Coordination

A weekly coordination meeting on COVID-19 is held between the WHO-Algeria office and the WHO regional office (AFRO) every Monday.

Measures taken at national level

On February 3, 2022, the Government decided, under the health crisis management system linked to the COVID-19 pandemic, to renew the measures of the current protection and prevention system from February 4, 2022.

The partial reopening of air borders has been effective since June 1, 2021 for 11 countries. Travelers must present at boarding a negative RT-PCR COVID test dating back less than 36 hours and will have to carry out an antigen test at their own expense on arrival. The Ministry of Transport also announced on Tuesday, October 12, 2021 the resumption of weekly maritime connections for passenger transport with Spain and France. A partial reopening of the land borders with Tunisia was announced on Monday January 3, 2022 for resident citizens of both countries and on presentation of the vaccination pass in addition to the health protocol put in place for the other borders.

The President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, announced on Thursday February 3, 2022 the lifting of the closure measure for schools, as of Sunday February 6, 2022, in compliance with the health protocol validated by the scientific committee and the acceleration of vaccination of national education personnel.
