Ambassador of Finland to QNA: HH the Amir’s Visit is Important Milestone in Excellent Bilateral Relations

Doha: HE Ambassador of the Republic of Finland to the State of Qatar Pekka Voutilainen stressed that the visit of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani to Finland is very important milestone in the excellent bilateral relations between the two countries, especially this year, as both sides celebrate 50 years of diplomatic relations.

In statements to Qatar News Agency , HE said that it is expected that between 10 to 20 MOUs will be signed, which reflects the two countries efforts to deepen their mutual cooperation in various fields for mutual benefit. Most notable MOUs are on peace mediation, investments, economic and commercial co-operation in multitude of sectors such as technology, education, food security, tourism, statics and health, His Excellency the Ambassador added.

He pointed to the high-level visits between the two countries, noting the increase in number of tourists, as Finnair currently flies to Doha three times a day from Nordic countries, highlighting the political and economic partnersh
ips between Doha and Helsinki.

His Excellency expressed appreciation for peace mediation work the State of Qatar has done in the last decades, adding that one of the key takeaways from the visit would be to enhance cooperation in this field.

He also pointed out that the regular political consultations this May in Helsinki were held to cement many joint activities.

HE Ambassador of the Republic of Finland to the State Pekka Voutilainen explained that many Finnish companies are operating in Qatar in the services sector. He expressed hope that Qatari investments in Finland will increase, as he sees significant opportunities to offer high-value propositions that will open doors and wide avenues for further cooperation in various fields.

He concluded by pointing out that there are 300 Finnish professionals currently working in Qatar in various fields, expressing appreciation for the support received by the Finnish community in the State of Qatar.
