At least 32 Killed, 63 Injured in Attack on Public Beach in Mogadishu

Somali authorities announced that the attack that took place last night on a public beach in the capital, Mogadishu, resulted in the death of 32 people and the injury of 63 others with varying degrees of injury.

At a press conference today, Somali police spokesman, Major Abdul Fattah Adam Hassan told reporters that the official assessment of the damage caused by the attack on a restaurant in Lido Beach is still ongoing.

He added in a related context that a soldier was killed and another was injured during the operation to eliminate the perpetrators of the attack.

The Somali police announced earlier today the killing of all five perpetrators of the attack, while revealing the thwarting of another attack in the capital, Mogadishu.

The Al-Qaeda-affiliated Al-Shabaab movement has previously claimed responsibility for similar attacks.
