Rabat – The Bayt Mal Al-Quds Agency presented its achievements a quarter of a century after its establishment in 1998, as outlined in the recently published report titled “25 years in the service of Al-Quds, its inhabitants, and their institutions.”

The report reviews various events and activities organized between January and August 2023 in different fields to commemorate the Agency’s 25th anniversary.

In a statement within the report, Nasser Bourita, Chairman of the Agency’s Supervisory Committee and Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccan Expatriates, highlighted the significance of this anniversary, reflecting a quarter-century commitment to preserving the Holy City and promoting its ancestral civilizational heritage.

Bourita emphasized the Agency’s dedication to improving living conditions for the Al Quds’ populations, protecting their cultural heritage, and fostering the city’s social and economic development.

The mission of the Bayt Mal Al-Quds Asharif Agency is to establish
the Holy City as a land of cohabitation between religions, based on the Islamic values of tolerance, peace, understanding and solidarity between peoples, he emphasized, noting that “these 25 years bear witness to this determination and serve as a reminder that our mission remains an absolute priority, given that we face new challenges every day that demand the same degree of commitment.”

Mohamed Salem Cherkaoui, Director in charge of managing the Bayt Mal Al-Quds Asharif Agency, noted that the celebration of the Agency’s silver jubilee in 2023 was organized under the High Patronage of HM King Mohammed VI. He emphasized that royal benevolence is a “source of pride” for the Agency, adding to the “various noble gestures of the Sovereign toward Al-Quds and its resilient inhabitants.”

Over and above the festivities and activities on the program, this celebration is an opportunity to take stock of accomplishments and look to the future, in order to pursue action with the same energy and determination, noted Cherk
aoui.

“Despite limited funds, the Agency has maintained a steady annual pace of achievements with a budget ranging from 3.5 to 5 million dollars in recent years, in spite of the difficult working conditions linked to the city’s complicated political and social reality,’ he added.

Referring to the events and activities organized on the occasion of the Silver Jubilee, the report provided an update on the second consultative meeting with representatives of Al-Quds institutions, held under the theme “What model for sustainable development in Al-Quds?”.

At this meeting, which took place on January 20, 2023, in Rabat, participants emphasized that the Bayt Mal Al-Quds Agency has undertaken the immense historical and civilizational task of preserving the religious and cultural heritage of the Holy City and addressing the urgent humanitarian needs of the Maqdessis to help them remain in their city.
