Bou Habib discusses humanitarian crisis with UN’s Riza, Palestinian refugees’ conditions with UNRWA’s Lazzarini., meets US and Italian Ambassadors

Caretaker Minister of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants, Dr. Abdallah Bou Habib, on Friday met in his office, United Nations Resident Coordinator and Humanitarian Coordinator, Imran Riza.

The discussion touched on the serious consequences of the Israeli attacks on civilians and relief and ambulance teams, and the major humanitarian crisis facing Lebanon due to the large wave of displacement, in addition to the efforts made by the UN affiliated organizations and agencies to meet the needs of the Lebanese people in these difficult circumstances.

Minister Bou Habib thanked the United Nations organizations and its specialized agencies for the great humanitarian work they are doing to help people affected by the Israeli aggression.

The meeting also addressed the displaced Syrians’ crisis in Lebanon and the need to find a quick solution to it.

Minister Bou Habib also met with UNRWA Commissioner-General, Philippe Lazzarini.

Discussions reportedly touched on the conditions of the Palestinian refugees in Lebanon and
the efforts made by UNRWA to meet their needs in light of the Israeli aggression.

Bou Habib also met with US Ambassador to Lebanon, Lisa Johnson, with whom he discussed the developments related to the Israeli aggression on Lebanon, and the ongoing international efforts to reach a ceasefire.

Bou Habib reiterated Lebanon’s support for the American-French initiative for a ceasefire, and its adherence to Security Council Resolution 1701.

Bou Habib then received the Italian Ambassador, Fabrizio Marchelli, who handed him an invitation to participate in the tenth edition of the Rome-Med Mediterranean Dialogue Forum, scheduled to be held in Rome from November 25 to 27, 2024.

The Foreign Minister then received the new Austrian Ambassador to Lebanon, who came on an acquaintance visit.
