Bou Habib receives Australian, South Korean and Slovak Ambassadors, stresses Lebanon’s commitment to implementing UN Resolution 1701

Caretaker Minister of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants, Dr. Abdallah Bou Habib, on Wednesday received in his office, Australian Ambassador to Lebanon, Andrew Barnes, who conveyed a message from the Australian government regarding the developments in Lebanon and the region, hoping to “avoid military escalation and resolve disputes and differences between all parties through peaceful means.”

Minister Bou Habib stressed that “Lebanon does not seek war and is committed to implementing UN Resolution 1701 to establish calm on its southern borders, but the international community must compel Israel to stop its aggression against Lebanon and Gaza.”

Minister Bou Habib received the South Korean Ambassador to Lebanon, Il Park, whose country currently holds a non-permanent seat at the Security Council.

Bou Habib stressed that the “international pressure must be focused on Israel to stop its aggression, as it is the party that refuses a ceasefire.”

The Korean ambassador called for “pacification and restraint” and stresse
d “his country’s support for the full implementation of UN Resolution 1701 and the extension of UNIFIL’s mandate.”

Minister Bou Habib also received the Ambassador of Slovakia to Lebanon, Marek Varga, who came on a farewell visit upon the end of his diplomatic duties in the country.
