Civil society organizations: Stop the inevitable famine disaster for our people in the Gaza Strip

General

Ramallah – Ma’an – The Palestinian NGO Network said that while the occupation war machine continues the open genocide against the Palestinian people, committing bloody massacres that cause more victims of state terrorism against an entire people, especially in the Gaza Strip, while another silent war continues with different paces and methods in the West Bank and Jerusalem. As part of what the occupying state is practicing on the ground of the decisive plan to annex the West Bank through actual procedures and steps, including intensifying settlement construction, legitimizing the so-called settlement outposts, Judaizing Jerusalem and isolating it from its surroundings, continuing the invasions, especially of the areas of the northern West Bank, and destroying the infrastructure there, accompanied by bloody killings. Bard, arrest campaigns, military checkpoints and daily settler attacks.

She added in a statement: While all this is happening before the eyes and ears of the entire world, another war is taking p
lace that is no less fierce and the people of the Gaza Strip are groaning under its weight, who are being subjected to another massacre in which aircraft and shelling are not used, but rather represented by starvation and food insecurity amid warnings from international bodies of an imminent disaster due to the continued prevention of aid, the closure of crossings, and the non-permission of movement in the areas of the Gaza Strip. We warned several weeks ago of the signs of a humanitarian disaster on the eve of citizens in the northern areas of the Strip grinding the fodder allocated for livestock and eating it as food to satisfy their hunger in light of the lack of food supplies. According to the World Health Organization, there are more than 8,000 children today suffering from severe malnutrition, and they are at risk of starving to death and do not receive the required care and treatment. In Kamal Adwan Hospital, which is one of the largest hospitals in the Gaza Strip, 200 children have been documented and
examined, 50 of whom need intensive care due to malnutrition. UN reports from human rights organizations indicate that there are more than 700,000 citizens in a state of malnutrition who have been classified as They are in danger, in addition to the presence of 1 in 3 children suffering from severe malnutrition under the age of two. These are just quick examples that we provide to remind us of the extent of the imminent humanitarian disaster that threatens the Strip, which we referred to a few days ago and demanded that the Strip be considered a disaster area to demand that official and civil authorities, the private sector and all levels bear responsibility for what is happening in the Gaza Strip, where 33 children have died due to malnutrition after international and humanitarian institutions documented the extent of the violations practiced against the Gaza Strip, indicating that the individual share is less than 70 grams of food and 17 ml of water if it is available in the best of cases, and that 4 out of
5 children have spent a whole day without eating at least once in 3 days. As is known, after nine months of aggressive war on the Gaza Strip, the occupying state has destroyed the food and health system as part of its comprehensive war and the policy of collective punishment with the aim of subjugating the Palestinian people.

The organization indicated: We renew this appeal to human rights and humanitarian institutions, the United Nations and relevant institutions to work immediately to open the crossings, and enable aid to reach areas threatened by the risk of famine in the northern Gaza Strip in particular, and to exert real pressure on the occupying state, which is ignoring all international conventions and norms, to force it to open safe corridors under the supervision of the United Nations to secure the arrival of aid and not to allow it to impose a starvation policy in a serious violation of international law. The network also demands that a national emergency committee be formed that includes all offi
cial and unofficial components, and that an immediate action plan be developed to save people’s lives from imminent death and to take the necessary steps within response and emergency plans, and to work to make every effort to stop the occupation aggression immediately, and to work in comprehensive coordination between the various local parties within unified efforts to provide the Gaza Strip with all the necessary components for life, and to strengthen the presence and steadfastness of the people in the face of the forced displacement plan within the so-called (repellent environment) for the population to force them to leave voluntarily in light of the continuation of massacres and daily killing.
