Earthna Center Due to Launch 8th Edition of Qatar Sustainability Week in November

Earthna Center (Our legacy), an affiliate of Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development, on Monday announced the 8th edition of Qatar Sustainability Week that will be organized during Nov. 4-11, 2023.



Organized in partnership with the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change (MoECC), in collaboration with public and private sectors, civil institutions, schools, universities and socially active groups nationwide, this year edition abounds with bulk of activities and an array of workshops that aim to spur individuals to engage in green initiatives, the center’s statement read.



In addition, the activities intend to encourage the community individuals to pursue lifestyles that essentially observe multi-faceted aspects of environmental sustainability. The activities will focus on multiple environmental topics ranging from rationalization of water and energy consumption to waste reduction, recycling, promotion of public health, as well as a myriad of environmentally relevant topics.



HE Minister of Environment and Climate Change, Sheikh Dr Faleh bin Nasser bin Ahmed bin Ali Al-Thani, said Qatar Sustainability Week bolsters cooperation and knowledge share among sectors that primarily contribute to achieving the sustainable development goals based on Qatar National Vision 2030.



He outlined that the event is the best initiative and is reminiscent of the societal responsibilities towards conserving the environment for posterities.



Over the past years, Qatar Sustainability Week has consolidated its status as a unique event to promote Qatar’s vision on environmental sustainability given the substantial number of activities that encourage the Qatari individuals to pursue more sustainable lifestyles, said Executive director of Earthna, Dr Gonzalo Castro de la Mata.



He added that last years edition featured over 400 events in which more than 100,000 individuals participated. He wished the same success would continue during the upcoming edition.



The previous edition of Qatar Sustainability Week witnessed the participation of over 250 entities whose activities mainly focused on raising awareness on critical environmental issues, such as waste reduction, encouraging recycling practices, as well as pursuing sustainable lifestyle.
