Earthquake of 4.1 Magnitude Jolts Eastern Romania

An earthquake measuring 4.1 magnitude on the Richter scale hit Vrancea county, eastern Romania on Sunday.

The Romanian National Institute for Earth Physics (NIEP) said in a statement that the epicenter of the earthquake occurred 38 km from the city of Focsani in Vrancea county, at a depth of 123.1 km.

There have been no reports of casualties or material damage as a result of the earthquake.

Romania is among the most earthquake-prone countries in Europe.
