Earthquake of 5.7 Magnitude Strikes Kermadec Islands Off New Zealand Coast

An earthquake measuring 5.7 magnitude on the Richter scale struck Thursday the Kermadec Islands off the coast of New Zealand.

The US Geological Survey (USGS) said that the earthquake occurred at a depth of 10 km, while no tsunami warnings were issued.

There have been no reports of human losses or material damage as a result of the earthquake so far.

The Kermadec Islands are located about 1,000 km northeast of the North Island of New Zealand and are frequently subjected to strong earthquakes.
