“Education” concludes the project to rehabilitate science laboratories in Hebron

HEBRON – Ma’an – The Ministry of Education and Higher Education concluded on Wednesday a project to rehabilitate science labs in Dr. Abdul Hai Shawer and Hajj Ishaq Al-Qawasmi Elementary Schools for Girls in the Hebron Education Department; this was through a project implemented by the Teacher Creativity Center in cooperation with the Japan Campaign for Supporting Palestinian Children and with the support of the Japanese government.

This came with the participation of the Minister of Education and Higher Education Dr. Amjad Barham, the Japanese Ambassador to the State of Palestine Nakashima Yuichi, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education Dr. Nafie Assaf, the Director General of the Teacher Creativity Center Rifaat Al-Sabah, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Center Raeda Al-Shuaibi, Amani Abu Sneineh representing the Hebron Governorate, the Director General of the Hebron Education Department Atef Al-Jamal, the Program Officer at the Japanese Campaign Foundation Akana Shabatani, the Secreta
ry General of the Teachers Union Saed Erziqat, the Director General of School Buildings Eng. Wissam Nakhleh, the Director General of Supervision Muhammad Salem, and representatives of official, civil and partner institutions.

In this context, Barham stressed the importance of providing a stimulating educational environment for students in light of the occupation’s attack against our people in the West Bank and Gaza Strip, pointing out the need to develop students’ scientific and technical skills, and enhance their ability to think critically and solve problems in innovative ways, praising the complementary relationship between the Ministry, Teacher Creativity and Japan aimed at developing the educational process.

For his part, Yoshi praised the depth of bilateral relations between the two countries, noting that the laboratory support and development program comes within the framework of international efforts to enhance education, expressing Japan’s readiness to continue supporting the education sector.

In
turn, Shabatani confirmed the foundation’s commitment to supporting education, noting that the program includes qualifying and training teachers on scientific methods in activating laboratories in order to enhance students’ capabilities.

For her part, Al-Shuaibi pointed out the importance of providing a safe educational environment for students by improving the infrastructure and enhancing teachers’ skills to implement scientific experiments, expressing her thanks to Japan, the government and people, for their support for the Palestinian people.

In a related context, Barham met with the directors of the Hebron Education Schools; To discuss the difficulties facing the teaching and learning process, listen to their demands and vision for developing education, and discuss some technical issues of interest to their schools.
