Director of the Russian Foreign Ministry’s Economic Cooperation Department Dmitry Birichevsky said that Russia does not exclude any options for responding to Western sanctions, but tries to avoid extreme measures.
“We do not rule out any option to respond to the illegitimate restrictions of the West. We have the appropriate opportunity and tools. We are ready for any development,” according to RIA Novosti.
On Sunday, High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs Josep Borrell said that the EU was ready to impose new sanctions if Belarus agreed to deploy Russian tactical nuclear weapons on its territory.
On Saturday, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that Moscow and Minsk had agreed to deploy tactical nuclear weapons in Belarus without prejudice to nuclear non-proliferation obligations. (QNA)
