GCC-ASEAN Summit: Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Reiterates Rejection of Targeting Civilians in Gaza

Riyadh, – HH Crown Prince and Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud, affirmed his categorical rejection of targeting Palestinian civilians in any form and under any pretext in the Gaza Strip.

Speaking at the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Summit, His Highness said: “we are pained by the escalation of the ongoing violence in Gaza, the price of which is being paid by innocent civilians. In this regard, we affirm our categorical rejection of the targeting of civilians, under any pretext, and underline the importance of adhering to international humanitarian law and the need to stop military operations against civilians and infrastructure that directly affects their lives. We call for establishing conditions that lead to the return of stability and to the achievement of a lasting peace that ensures reaching a just solution and the establishment of a Palestinian state within the 1967 borders, and helps attain security and prosperity for all.” Meanwhile, the Saudi Crown Prince said that holding the summit of the GCC and ASEAN countries constitutes a consolidation of relations between the two sides, explaining that the goal of the meeting is to develop cooperation and partnership in a way that achieves the interests of peoples, enhances opportunities for development, and establishes security and stability.

He also said that he looks forward to strengthening economic relations and benefit from available opportunities in all fields in light of the human resources and commercial opportunities possessed by the countries of the two groups.
