Iraqi National Security Adviser, NATO official Discuss Supporting Bilateral Relations

Iraqi National Security Adviser Qassim Al Araji and NATO’s Deputy Secretary General for Operations Thomas Goffus discussed Tuesday via videoconferencing ways to enhance cooperation and partnership between the two sides and the continuation of NATO’s support to build and develop the capabilities of the Iraqi forces through consultation and training.

During the call, Al Araji affirmed Iraq’s keenness to develop its relationship with NATO as its strategic partner, pointing to the Iraqi government’s keenness to develop this relationship, especially in the field of supporting Baghdad in the field of cybersecurity to keep pace with the technological development taking place in the world.

For his part, Goffus explained that NATO’s support to the Iraqi forces is advisory and training, not combat, stressing NATO’s support for Iraq and its keenness to establish stability in it. (QNA)
