Jordan condemns Jewish extremists setting fire to the vicinity of UNRWA in Jerusalem

The Jordanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates condemned the setting of fire by Israeli extremists in the vicinity of the headquarters of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) in occupied Jerusalem.

The Ministry warned against repeated attacks on the agency’s headquarters, as it is a flagrant violation of the rules of international law and international humanitarian law, and a blatant challenge to international laws that stipulate the necessity of protecting the headquarters and employees of the United Nations and relief personnel.

The Ministry’s official spokesman, Ambassador Sufyan Al-Qudah, called on the international community to take immediate and effective action and oblige Israel to assume its responsibilities, as the occupying power in Jerusalem, to stop its continuous and ongoing violations of the rules of international law and international humanitarian law, and to provide protection for relief organizations and their employees, especially UNRWA, whi
ch plays a role. A major humanitarian in providing humanitarian aid and services to the Palestinian brothers in the occupied Palestinian territories, including the Gaza Strip.

Ambassador Al-Qudah added that the agency’s forced closure of its headquarters in occupied Jerusalem under the threat of Israeli extremists is a new dangerous development that reflects the systematic Israeli targeting of the agency, its activities, and the humanitarian services it provides to the Palestinian brothers in the occupied Palestinian territories, including Gaza, in accordance with its UN mandate
