Jordan Summons Ambassador to Israel in Rejection of War on Gaza

Amman, Jordanian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Dr. Ayman Al Safadi decided today to summon the Jordanian ambassador to Israel to Amman immediately.

The Jordanian News Agency reported that the decision was an expression of Jordan’s position rejecting and condemning the raging Israeli war on the Gaza Strip, which is killing innocent people, causing an unprecedented humanitarian catastrophe, and carries dangerous possibilities for its expansion, which will threaten the security of the entire region, and international security and peace.

Al Safadi also directed the relevant department in the Jordanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs to inform the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs not to return its ambassador who had previously left Jordan.

The Jordanian Foreign Minister stated that the return of the ambassadors will be linked to Israel stopping its war on Gaza and stopping the humanitarian catastrophe it is causing and all its measures that deprive the Palestinians of their right to food, water, medicine, and their right to live in a safe and stable life on their homeland.

He also stressed that Jordan will continue to work to stop the war on Gaza, bring in humanitarian aid, protect civilians, and protect the region from its consequences and its disastrous impact on the future of the region and its right to a just and comprehensive peace based on the two-state solution that embodies the independent and sovereign Palestinian national state with occupied Jerusalem as its capital on the lines of June 4, 1967, which represents the only way to guarantee the security of all the peoples and countries of the region.
