March 8: MAP Honors its Women

General

The Maghreb Arab News Agency (MAP) held a ceremony on Friday at its headquarters in Rabat, in honor of its women journalists and desk officers, on the occasion of the celebration of International Women’s Day.

The ceremony, chaired by MAP’s Director General, Fouad Arif, was an opportunity to highlight the efforts made by the Agency’s female staff, as well as their unwavering commitment and dedication to promoting MAP nationally and internationally.

This has been a tradition at MAP for many years, highlighting the Agency’s sincere desire to support women in their emancipation and encourage them to take on leadership roles, whether in the editorial or administrative departments.

On this occasion, MAP’s Director General praised the major efforts made by MAP’s women executives and the pioneering roles they play in the service of the Agency and the homeland, notwithstanding the difficulties and sacrifices inherent in the nature of media work.

In this respect, he noted that women occupy several positions of res
ponsibility within the Agency, pointing out that MAP has 3 directors, 5 division heads and 29 department managers.

In the same vein, Arif said that women make up a significant proportion of the Agency’s workforce, with 160 women working at the head office in Rabat, 23 in the regional hubs and 11 in the international hubs.

These achievements, made with great merit by the women of the Agency, are in line with the promotion of the conditions of Moroccan women in general, he noted, expressing MAP’s determination to work harder to enable women to access decision-making spheres and occupy their rightful place within the Agency.

MAP is multiplying its initiatives to support the rise of female leadership and promote a culture of parity, through a hiring policy that reinforces equal opportunities for both sexes and ensures that women journalists are offered an appropriate career plan with different prospects for the future.

Thanks to their skills and determination, MAP’s female staff have been able to occupy a num
ber of positions of responsibility, contributing to the dynamic development of the media field in general and the Maghreb Arab News Agency in particular.
