MIKATI CHAIRS MEETING ON SALARIES AND WAGES, FOLLOWS UP ON LATEST DEVELOPMENTS WITH GRAND SERAIL VISITORS

Caretaker Prime Minister, Najib Mikati, on Tuesday chaired a meeting focused on salaries and wages, attended by Finance Minister Youssef Khalil, Civil Service Board President Nasreen Machmouchi, Director General of the Presidency Dr. Antoine Choucair, Secretary General of the Council of Ministers Judge Mahmoud Makkieh, and Director General of the Ministry of Finance George Maarawi.

Prime Minister Mikati later met with former President Michel Sleiman, with whom he discussed the country’s general situation.

Mikati also received the Saudi Ambassador to Lebanon, Walid Bukhari, with whom he discuss the latest developments, as well as bilateral relations between the two countries.

Prime Minister Mikati then met with Telecommunications Minister, Johnny Corm, who highlighted his successful visit to China.

Corm mentioned that the Chinese Agency for International Development Cooperation (CIDCA) announced a $40 million aid package for Lebanon.

“We agreed with the Prime Minister to coordinate with the Council for De
velopment and Reconstruction and submit a project prepared by Ogero to receive these funds,’ Corm added.

Mikati separately welcomed MP Jihad Al-Samad, Chair of the National Defense, Interior, and Municipalities Committee. The pair discussed the country’s general affairs.

The Prime Minister also met with Beirut Governor, Marwan Abboud, with whom he addressed issues related to the capital.

Mikati finally held a consultative meeting with Ministers Najla Riachi, Henry Khoury, George Kallas, Amin Salam, and George Boujikian.
