Prime Minister Najib Mikati mourned today the passing of former Prime Minister Salim al-Hoss, saying: ‘With great sadness and sorrow, I offer my condolences to the Lebanese people for the passing of former Prime Minister Salim al-Hoss, who passed away at the most difficult and delicate stage in which Lebanon needs his conscience, his national and Arab sense, his wisdom, sobriety, and good management of public affairs.”

Mikati considered that “writing about PM Hoss is both a difficult and easy task at the same time, difficult because no words can do him justice, and easy because he was a sea of ??giving in his professional life…”

He added that the late PM Hoss “was a prominent economist and a role model for his expertise, ethics, and knowledge. He placed the country’s supreme interest and the interest of citizens above all considerations. He was impartial, objective, and constitutional par excellence.”

Mikati recalled the great attributes of the late PM, eulogizing his vast knowledge and ability to reach
the highest levels as a self-made man, becoming Lebanon’s successful Prime Minister.

“After years of giving and sacrifice, he deserves the title of ‘Lebanon’s Conscience’ and will forever enter the conscience of the Lebanese…May God have mercy on him and rest his soul in peace in His vast heavens,” Mikati concluded.
