HE Minister of Municipality Abdullah bin Abdulaziz bin Turki Al Subaie on Friday said that the State of Qatar plays a major in the issue of food security on the local, regional and international levels.
Addressing the International Conference on Food Security, held in Samarkand in the Republic of Uzbekistan, His Excellency stressed the importance of continued joint cooperation, as well as coordination with all countries in this regard.
He also pointed to the State of Qatar hosting of the Expo (Expo Qatar 2023) under the theme “Green Desert, Better Environment”, calling member states of the UN’s Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) to take part in it.
Several ministers of agriculture and food security from FAO member states participated in the conference, which started Thursday. They discussed key innovative solutions to transform food systems in a way that contributes to accelerating the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, in addition to reviewing the challenges facing food security in various countries of the world.
