Mohammed VI National Center for the Disabled, Regional Branches, Promote Professional Integration of Mentally Disabled Youth

General

The Mohammed VI National Center for the Disabled (CNMH), together with its eight regional branches, were mobilized in 2023 to promote the professional integration of young people with intellectual disabilities.

Thus, 2023 was marked by a strong mobilization of the CNMH and the invaluable commitment of local economic actors in favor of the professional integration of young people with intellectual disabilities, says a statement from the Mohammed V Foundation for Solidarity.

The statement noted that this mobilization resulted in an exceptional rate of recruitment in the ordinary environment of young people who had been trained in various trades such as gardening, room service, catering, pastry-making and cooking.

The training courses offered by the CNMH in partnership with the Office de la Formation Professionnelle et de la Promotion du Travail are carefully selected to meet the needs of the job market, explains the same source.

Initiated by the Agadir’s CNMH (inaugurated in 2022), this mobilization has led to the signing of partnership agreements with the Agadir Souss Massa Regional Tourist Board, CGEM Souss Massa and the Hilton Group.

Twelve 19- to 24-year-old trainees (including one girl) have been placed on pre-employment internship contracts in four prestigious hotels operating in Taghazout Bay, for the period from June to August 2023, the statement said.

It further noted that the partner hotels that have opened their doors to these young people are the Hyatt Regency Taghazout, the Hyatt Place Taghazout Bay, the Hilton Taghazout Bay Beach Resort and the Fairmont Taghazout Bay.

Depending on their area of training, the young trainees have joined the housekeeping, catering and food production departments.

By the end of the year, Agadir’s CNMH also plans to sign new agreements, mainly with the Hyatt Group and the Fairmont, demonstrating the hotel industry’s interest in integrating young people with disabilities into its establishments, according to the statement.

Similarly, four other young people from the Casablanca’s CNMH trained in catering and room service have been integrated into the mainstream environment at Suites Appart-hôtel, Newrest Maroc and a local restaurant, the same source adds.

The CNMH, an autonomous structure of the Mohammed V Foundation for Solidarity, was specifically created to provide a framework for addressing the issue of disability. Active since 2006, the CNMH works to facilitate the access of people with disabilities (children, adolescents and adults) to education, social activities, medical care, sports and training (since 2010).

The Mohammed V Foundation for Solidarity and the CNMH and its regional chapters warmly thank the partners and various contributors for their commitment to young people with mental disabilities, the statement concludes.
