Deputy speaker of the House of Representatives, Hassan Benomar, met Friday in Rabat, with the Minister of Agriculture, Food Security and Enterprise of Belize, Jose Abelardo, on a visit to the Kingdom to take part in the International Agricultural Exhibition in Morocco (SIAM) currently held in Meknes.

The talks were an opportunity for Benomar and Abelardo to discuss some international issues of common interest and to stress the importance of coordination in international and regional parliamentary forums to serve the interests of both countries, said the House of Representatives in a statement.

On this occasion, Benomar expressed Morocco’s firm commitment to consolidate cooperation relations with Belize, especially in the parliamentary field, the same source stressed, adding that he reviewed the specificities of the bicameral system in the Kingdom, as well as the prerogatives of the House of Representatives in terms of legislation, oversight of government action and evaluation of public policies.

He also shared with the Belizean minister a set of information on the sectors in which Morocco has pioneering experience, including agriculture, water management and renewable energy, which could form the basis of a fruitful bilateral cooperation.
