Morocco, Germany Discuss Enhanced Cooperation in Employment and Skills Development

Rabat – Mechanisms for strengthening cooperation in employment and skills promotion were the focus of talks on Monday in Rabat between the Minister of Economic Inclusion, Small Business, Employment, and Skills, Younes Sekkouri, and the German Minister of the Interior and Territory, Nancy Faeser.

At a press conference following the talks, Sekkouri stressed that the meeting had provided an opportunity to discuss the Kingdom’s priorities and those of the Federal Republic of Germany in terms of managing international professional mobility.

He also pointed out that the talks provided an opportunity to highlight Morocco’s dynamic economic and social reforms.

For her part, Faeser stressed the importance of strengthening cooperation in the security field, as well as the need to promote legal migration and combat irregular migration.

She also emphasized the importance of developing bilateral cooperation in the fields of vocational qualifications and youth training.

Earlier in the day, the German Minister of the Interior and Territory met with Interior Minister Abdelouafi Laftit to discuss ways of strengthening bilateral security cooperation between Morocco and Germany.

The meeting, attended by senior officials from both countries’ Ministries of the Interior, provided an opportunity to exchange views on issues related to the fight against terrorism, extremism, and irregular immigration in light of the emergence of multiple forms of threats. Both Morocco and Germany are convinced of the need for proactive prevention to mitigate these crimes.
