Morocco Records MAD 2.5 Bln in Trade Surplus with France in 2022 – Exchange Office

Morocco’s trade surplus with France stood at 2.5 billion dirhams in 2022, according to the Exchange Office’s annual report on Morocco’s foreign trade.

This surplus is down by 9.2 billion dirhams compared with a year earlier, the same source said, pointing out that Morocco has recorded a trade surplus with France since 2017.

The Office also reported that the trade balance remained in deficit with Spain, Morocco’s leading trading partner. The trade deficit has thus widened from 7.8 to 19.9 billion dirhams 2022.

In addition, the report said that trade with China has shown a worsening trade deficit since 2011. This deficit reached 70.6 billion dirhams in 2022, compared with 58.7 billion in 2021 and 21.7 billion in 2011.

The trade deficit with the United States has also widened, to 40.4 billion dirhams in 2022.

The trade balance with Saudi Arabia remained in deficit, with a deterioration of 31 billion dirhams in 2022 compared with the previous year. The trade deficit amounted to 46.7 billion dirhams.
