Morocco will be competing in the final of the Bakery World Cup, to be held next Sunday and Monday at the Europain trade show in Paris.

The team defending the Kingdom’s colors will be made up of Kamal Rahal Essoulami, president of the Moroccan Federation of Culinary Arts and the Federation of Pastry and Bakery, El Hassane Id-yahia for viennoiserie, Driss Darek for bread and Amine Boulmane for the artistic piece, Rahal Event said in a statement on Friday.

This is the team that won the African Bakery Cup held in 2023 at the Carrefour international des professionnels de la restauration, de l’alimentaire et de l’industrie hôtelière (the international crossroads for professionals in the catering, food and hotel industry), held from May 17 to 23 in El Jadida.

The African champions will represent the continent alongside Côte d’Ivoire, Ghana and Madagascar, boosting Africa’s chances at this prestigious global event, which brings together 12 teams – the best on their respective continents, added the same source.

oached by Adil Joukhrane, the Moroccan baking team trained at the bakery and pastry training institute (IFMBP).

“Being part of the world’s bakery elite is a challenge that has now been met thanks to the initiative and material and immaterial support of the Rahal Group, which has been supporting professionals and the trade for over 20 years”, noted the Rahal Group, adding that “this national initiative is part of a strategy to develop our gastronomic heritage and our hospitality professions, which face major challenges in the run-up to 2030”.

On the continental front, the same source emphasized, “the aim is to act as a driving force to guide and lead African professionals in the sector towards the development of their trades, with a view to South-South exchanges”.
