Over 160,000 New Vehicles Sold in 2023

Casablanca – Overall sales of new vehicles in Morocco reached 161,504 units in 2023, compared with 161,410 in 2022, president of the Association of Vehicle Importers in Morocco (AIVAM), Adil Bennani, said Monday in Casablanca.

Speaking at a press conference devoted to the 2023 annual review of the automotive market in Morocco, Bennani highlighted the complexity of the macroeconomic context, which is impacting demand, and to the gradual recovery in supply, which has led to a slight 0.1% year-on-year increase in sales.

Of total sales for the year, passenger cars accounted for 145,292 units, compared with 143,186 in 2022, while light commercial vehicles (LCVs) accounted for 16,212 units, compared with 18,224 a year earlier, he added.

He pointed out that this near-stagnation was due to a number of factors, including galloping inflation, the unfavorable economic context, the rainfall deficit and the inflation-induced contraction in demand.
