Gaza – Ma’an – In light of the difficult health and humanitarian conditions that Gaza City and the northern region are going through, an emergency campaign to vaccinate against polio was launched, led by the Palestinian Red Crescent Society, in cooperation with the World Health Organization, UNICEF, UNRWA, and the Palestinian Ministry of Health.

In a statement, Dr. Khaled Al-Shawa, coordinator of the national polio vaccination campaign at the Palestinian Red Crescent, confirmed that this initiative came as an urgent response to the current health challenges in the sector, and aims to protect children from the risk of contracting polio, which is a real threat to their health.

Al-Shawa stressed that vaccination is the only way to prevent this dangerous disease, and is considered a basic right for every child. He called on all parents to benefit from this campaign and immunize their children to ensure their safety.

The polio vaccination campaign implemented by the Palestinian Red Crescent Society in the Gaza
Strip includes several main points for providing vaccinations to children, including prominent clinics such as Al-Sabra Clinic and Al-Sahaba Clinic in Gaza City, and clinics in the northern Gaza Strip such as Abu Rashid Clinic and Al-Falujah Clinic.

These efforts come within the framework of the ongoing work to reduce the spread of polio and protect children from this dangerous disease.

Al-Shawa stressed that the vaccines provided are safe and free, noting that this step is necessary to ensure a healthy, disease-free environment for children and future generations.

He added: ‘Prevention is better than cure, so we call on parents to cooperate with us and go to vaccination centers to ensure that their children receive the required doses at the appropriate time. The health of our children is a trust that we must all take care of to ensure a safer future.’
