Qatar Charity Supports Rural Communities in Nepal to Face Heat Waves

General

Doha, August 07 (QNA) – Qatar Charity (QC) has implemented a project to face the heat waves in Nepal, benefiting more than 9,000 people from rural communities in a number of areas there.

Qatar Charity (QC) said in a statement Wednesday that the project, which was implemented with financial support from the UK Aid program and through the Start Nepal Fund, included distributing basic supplies and umbrellas to students to protect them from heat waves, installing water coolers and providing drinking water in schools and public institutions, in addition to providing food vouchers to daily wage workers and distributing free clean drinking water to thousands of street vendors, local residents and cart drivers.

Through this project, Qatar Charity (QC) aims to meet the needs of vulnerable groups, reduce the impact of heat waves on rural communities and enhance their resilience through awareness campaigns on the necessary preventive measures for personal protection, by disseminating educational materials and informat
ion.

The project is being implemented as the low-lying western regions of Nepal have faced an unprecedented challenge with extreme heat waves this summer, causing temperatures to rise above 43 degrees Celsius. (QNA)
