Qatari Newspapers Editorials


Doha: Qatari newspapers focused in their editorials Friday on HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani’s participation in the 33rd regular session of the Arab League Council at the summit level, held yesterday in the sisterly Kingdom of Bahrain.

The Qatari dailies praised the outcome of the summit which called for an immediate and permanent ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, and affirmed the priority of the Palestinian cause.

In a related context, the newspapers noted the lawsuit filed by South Africa again before the International Court of Justice (ICJ) against the Israeli entity to stop the ongoing genocide in the Gaza Strip.

Locally, the newspapers highlighted the qualitative leaps that the State of Qatar has achieved in the field of communications and information technology and innovation over the past few years by adopting many technological initiatives to achieve sustainable digital development.

firms His Highness’s keenness to work with Arab leaders to promote the joint action to serve the interests of the region and fulfill the aspirations of Arab people.

Al-Sharq added that the Bahrain declaration emphasized the Arab firm stance in support of the Palestinian cause as the central issue and the backbone of peace and stability in the region, and affirmed the need to end the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip immediately, the withdrawal of the occupation forces from the Strip, lift the siege, and open all crossings to aid, as well as the categorical rejection of all attempts to displace the Palestinian people.

The paper pointed to HH the Amir’s congratulations to the sisterly Kingdom of Bahrain on the successful hosting of the 33rd Arab League summit, expressing the hope that the efforts of all Arab countries will lead to more joint cooperation, and supporting critical issues for the Arab countries as well as serving their greater interests in security, development, and prosperity. HH the Amir’s keenness on achieving the main goal of Arab cooperation, which is to enhance security and stability, and work for the prosperity of the region and the well-being of its people, the paper added.

For its part, Al-Watan said that the Bahrain Declaration includes strong decisions that support the Palestinian cause, and calls for the necessity of an immediate and permanent ceasefire in Gaza.

The paper added that the Arab leaders condemned in the strongest terms the continued brutal Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip, the crimes committed against the Palestinian civilians, and the unprecedented Israeli violations of international law and international humanitarian law.

The Arab consensus affirms that the Palestinian issue occupies an important priority on the agenda of Arab leaders, in order to reach a just and comprehensive solution to realize peace in the Middle East, Al-Watan added.
