QS Marks World Metrology Day

The Qatar General Organization for Standards and Metrology (QS) joined its counterparts in the world in marking World Metrology Day, which falls on May 20 of each year, to raise awareness of the importance of metrology and its direct impact on all aspects of modern life.

On this occasion, QS stated that the 2023 World Metrology Day is held under the slogan “Measurements supporting the global food system,” which confirms the importance of metrology in various aspects of daily life.

QS pointed out that due to the significant increase in the volume of requests for calibration activities in the country, it has developed the capabilities of the industrial and legal calibration laboratory, which is concerned with calibrating balances, weights, and thermometers, in addition to developing new activities in the fields of “engineering dimensions, electrical quantities and calibration of pressure meters of all kinds It added that the laboratory is equipped with the latest devices and technologies represented by electrical quantities calibration laboratory devices, thermal measurements calibration laboratory devices, pressure meters calibration laboratory devices, and engineering dimensions calibration laboratory devices.

World Metrology Day is celebrated on May 20, commemorating the anniversary of the signing of the Metre Convention in 1875, an international treaty that was signed in Paris that established the basis for international agreement on units of measurement.
