Together – England international midfielder Jude Bellingham will be out of action for European and Spanish league champions Real Madrid for about a month due to a calf injury he sustained during training.

“Following tests carried out today on Jude Bellingham by Real Madrid’s medical staff, the player has been diagnosed with a muscular injury to the plantar fascia of his right leg,” Real said in a statement without specifying how long the former Borussia Dortmund player would be out for.

An injury of this type usually takes about a month to recover from, according to Spanish media estimates, meaning Bellingham will miss La Liga matches against Valladolid, Las Palmas and Real Betis, as well as England’s two UEFA Nations League matches against Ireland and Finland in September.

Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti said in a press conference on Friday that Bellingham “suffered a blow, and we are assessing it.”

The international midfielder was a mainstay in Real’s squad last season and helped them win the league a
nd Champions League double in his first season with the club.

In Real’s first two matches this season, Bellingham played as a central midfielder to accommodate the arrival of French striker Kylian Mbappe, after playing in a more advanced position last season.

The 21-year-old hopes to be ready for Real’s first Champions League match, scheduled for September 17-19.
