SALAM EMPHASIZES TRANSPARENCY, GULF RELATIONS FOR ECONOMIC RECOVERY IN LEBANON

Caretaker Minister of Economy and Trade, Amin Salam, on Tuesday underscored the importance of transparency and positivity in restoring Lebanon’s trust with the Arab world and the international community.

In a recent interview, Salam highlighted the necessity of earning this trust through constructive efforts.

Salam emphasized the critical role of reconnecting with Gulf markets, noting that Lebanon’s economic history has been significantly influenced by its ties with the Arab world, particularly the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries. Salam noted that a construction boom driven by rising oil prices, the region offers vast opportunities for Lebanese businesses.

Moreover, Salam highlighted his frequent visits to Qatar and other Gulf nations as part of efforts to rebuild strong ties. He praised Qatar’s commitment to renewable energy projects in Lebanon, including a 100-megawatt solar power initiative, which could expand if Lebanon shows commitment and transparency.

Salam also lauded the McKinsey Plan fo
r economic recovery, which focuses on developing productive sectors, calling for its adoption, and suggested integrating other proposals to enhance its effectiveness.

Salam concluded by stressing the importance of executing projects with integrity and urgency, aiming to address citizens’ needs and restore Lebanon’s economic position regionally and globally.
