Seminar at Police Academy on Artificial Intelligence, Its Applications in Education

In cooperation with the University of Doha for Science and Technology (UDST), the Police Academy at the Ministry of Interior organized a scientific seminar entitled ‘artificial intelligence and its applications in education,’ with the presence of a number of the Ministry of Interior’s officials, leaders of security and military colleges and institutes, and representatives of authorities related to the topic of the symposium.

The seminar – which saw lectures by experts and specialists from the UDST, police officers institute, and Police College – focused on three axes. The first axis focused on the artificial intelligence revolution, which is known as a scientific field that aims to develop machines and software that could simulate human intelligence and work patterns. The second axis dealt with the applications of artificial intelligence in teaching and learning.

The third axis tackled the educational challenges at the time of artificial intelligence, especially regarding the possibility of students relying excessively on artificial intelligence, ignoring critical thinking and problem-solving skills, and the possibility of being exposed to biased or inaccurate information. In addition to the challenge of the lack of resources, the challenges of integrating artificial intelligence, and the mechanisms of developing curricula that are in line with the future trend.

Head of the Educational and Curriculum Department at the Police Institute at the Police Academy Capt. Mohammed Ali Al Dosari said that the seminar comes within a series of specialized seminars organized by the Academy in partnership with various educational entities in Qatar, pointing out the agreement between the Academy and the UDST.

He said that this seminar is the fruit of the cooperation between the Academy and the UDST as the seminar saw noticeable participation from representatives from entities cooperating with the Academy in the field of education, security and military colleges and institutions, as well as faculty members and officers.
