Spain Determined to Further Develop its Multi-sector Relations with Morocco (Albares)JUMBLATT MEETS NEW US AMBASSADOR

Madrid – Spain’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation, José Manuel Albares, has reaffirmed his country’s determination to further develop its relations with Morocco in all areas.

“Our objective is to continue to make progress in our economic relations, to strengthen cooperation in areas such as the fight against terrorism and the mafias that traffic in human beings, and to increase the cultural and educational exchanges nourishing relations between our two countries,” Albares told the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Congress of Deputies on Monday.

‘Morocco is a neighboring country with which we share human and economic ties”, noted the Spanish senior official, emphasizing the importance of Morocco, a “friendly country”, for Spain.

‘For all these reasons, I opted for Morocco as the destination for my first official trip of this legislature”, stressed Albares, recalling the importance of the meetings held during this visit.

Former Progressive Socialist Party leader, Walid Jumblatt, on Tuesday welcomed at his Clemenceau residence, United States Ambassador to Lebanon, Lisa Johnson.

Also present had been the head of the Progressive Socialist Party, MP Taymour Jumblatt, and MP Wael Abou Faour.

Discussions during the meeting touched on the latest political developments.
