The Gambia Welcomes Morocco’s Ongoing Efforts under Wise, Enlightened Leadership of HM the King, in Favor of Africa’s Development (Joint Communiqué)

Dakhla – The Republic of The Gambia welcomed, on Thursday, the consistent efforts made by the Kingdom of Morocco, under the wise and enlightened leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, in favor of the development of the African continent.

This position was expressed in a joint communiqué issued at the end of the third session of the Joint Cooperation Commission between Morocco and The Gambia, co-chaired in Dakhla by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccan Expatriates, Nasser Bourita, and the Gambian Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, and Gambians Abroad, Mamadou Tangara.

In this joint communiqué, both parties reiterated their determination to participate in the efforts to settle disputes in Africa, noting with satisfaction their complete convergence on various regional and international issues of common interest raised.

The two ministers also emphasized the strong and longstanding relations of brotherhood and solidarity between the two countries, praisin
g the excellence of the friendship and mutual respect between their Heads of State, His Majesty King Mohammed VI, and his brother His Excellency Adama Barrow, President of the Republic of The Gambia.

Tangara also recalled the historical cooperation, strengthened by the visit of His Majesty King Mohammed VI to Banjul in February 2006, during which eight cooperation agreements were signed. He expressed his country’s full readiness to harness the enormous potential available to further strengthen and consolidate this partnership in all areas.

He also praised the Kingdom of Morocco’s resolute commitment to give renewed momentum to the bonds of brotherhood and solidarity between the two countries, highly commending the opening of the Moroccan embassy in Banjul, which will strengthen the foundations for the development of bilateral relations.

For his part, Bourita congratulated the Republic of The Gambia for the significant progress made in socio-economic development and reconciliation under the leadership of Hi
s Excellency President Adama Barrow. Barrow’s re-election in December 2021 is a testament to the trust placed in him by the Gambian people to continue his remarkable work in consolidating political stability and prosperity, as stated in the joint communiqué.
