The Official Gazette and the Ministry of Higher Education discuss the results of the legal research competition

Ramallah- Ma’an- The Official Gazette Office and the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, through the General Administration for Development and Scientific Research, held a workshop today to discuss the results of the scientific research that won the Legal Scientific Research Competition for the year 2023/first session.

This was attended by the Undersecretary of Higher Education, Dr. Basri Saleh, the Head of the Official Gazette Office, Counselor A. Reem Abu Al-Rub, the Advisor to the Minister of Education and Higher Education, Dr. Ihab Al-Qabaj, the Director General of Development and Scientific Research, Dr. Amin Nawahda, and the researchers participating in the award.

In this context, Abu Al-Rub said: “In line with the strategic plan and vision of the Official Gazette Office, preparing legal scientific studies and research is considered an axis of work through the General Administration of Legislation, especially the Legal Research Department, and comes within the strategic goal of the Office; whi
ch is to contribute to spreading legal culture, with the aim of developing the legislative system in Palestine, spreading legal culture by publishing and presenting studies and research to researchers and those interested in legal and legislative aspects, supporting legal scientific research, and enhancing the research capabilities of legal researchers.”

She added: “The importance of scientific research in the legal field lies in conducting research and research studies on problematic topics, thorny and complex legal issues, the factors that enter into them, and the laws, legislation and constitutions that participate in individual and collective human life, and working to develop and improve those laws, constitutions and legislation, and find appropriate solutions to legal problems, and apply them in the present and future.”

Abu Al-Rub continued: The idea was at the beginning of 2023 AD, so that the ministry was approached as they are the basis of scientific research, and their experience in this field, a
steering committee was formed to supervise the implementation of the plan that was developed in partnership with the ministry to reach this moment.

For his part, Undersecretary Saleh conveyed the greetings of Minister Dr. Amjad Barham to the attendees, pointing out the importance of these workshops that follow up on the results of research until they achieve the desired effects to serve Palestinian society, praising the excellence of the participating researchers and the quality of their research, pointing out the importance of conveying this research to those interested and specialists to benefit from the results of the research.

Saleh praised the efforts of the Official Gazette Office and its keenness to promote legal scientific research, stressing the keenness of the Ministry to support and promote productive scientific research that has an impact on society.

He pointed out that the Ministry is working during the coming period to launch national priorities for scientific research, praising Palestinian r
esearchers and their focus on qualitative research, stressing the need to guide master’s and doctoral students in this context.

For their part, the researchers presented their research and its results, and the attendees held a discussion on these results, in order to reach the actual effects of this research on society.

It is noteworthy that the Official Gazette and “Higher Education” launched an award in the field of legal scientific research, within the framework of a memorandum of understanding signed between the two parties, as the competition aims to spread the culture of legal scientific research, which contributes to raising the quality of research outputs in Palestine, encouraging legal researchers, especially university students, and discussing modern legal issues that contribute to developing the legislative system and raising its value and scientific status.

The competition also aims to find solutions to some thorny legal issues, enhance the quality of scientific research in legal fields, and ac
hieve quality and sustainable development in research sectors.

The competition fields include: public administration in the legal field, human rights, and quality of legislation.
