The Supreme Presidency of Churches condemns the continued aggression of the occupation and settlers against Al-Aqsa

General

Ramallah – Ma’an – The Higher Presidential Committee for Church Affairs in Palestine condemned the continued aggression of the occupation forces and settlers, led by ministers and members of the Knesset, against the sanctity of Al-Aqsa Mosque and its supreme religious status, and considered it a provocation and disdain for the feelings of more than two billion Muslims around the world.

The committee stressed in a statement issued by its chairman and member of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization, Dr. Ramzi Khoury, that these incursions on the anniversary of the alleged so-called ‘destruction of the temple’ come in the context of the attempts of the extremist occupation government led by the racist trio Netanyahu, Smotrich and Ben Gvir, to implement their Judaization and colonial project not only in the city of Jerusalem and its holy sites, but also in all the occupied Palestinian territories.

She added that this renewed aggression on Al-Aqsa Mosque by Jewish extremists, their des
ecration of its courtyards, their performance of Talmudic rituals, and the raising of the Israeli flag, is a dangerous escalation, targeting the occupied city of Jerusalem and its sanctities, and an attempt to impose a new reality that violates international law, international legitimacy resolutions, and the historical and legal status of the city of Jerusalem and its sanctities.

The Committee called on the relevant international institutions and all churches of the world to condemn this aggression on Al-Aqsa Mosque, work to stop it, and provide protection for it and the rest of the Islamic and Christian holy sites, in compliance with their legal, political and moral duties and responsibilities in preserving international peace and security, which will not be achieved except by ending the occupation and establishing an independent Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital in accordance with the relevant international legitimacy resolutions.
