The UK announced a package of sanctions against companies and individuals in three African countries, due to alleged links to the Russian private military company Wagner.

The UK Foreign Office said, in a statement, that the sanctions target 13 individuals and companies linked to Wagner, which the UK accuses of committing violations in Mali and the Central African Republic and threatening peace and security in Sudan. The statement pointed out that these measures would limit the financial freedom of the company’s representatives in these countries, by preventing UK citizens, companies and banks from dealing with them, in addition to freezing any of their assets that are kept in the UK and banning travel.
