Morocco’s election to the presidency of the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) for 2024 is an “impressive” testament to the Kingdom’s “enlightened approach”, said the Executive Director of the Washington Institute for Near East Policy research center, Robert Satloff.

He told MAP that it is ‘especially significant” that Morocco clinched the majority of votes to lead the UN body in 2024.?

This achievement means that Morocco’s ‘moderate and conciliatory view’ more accurately represents the will of both the African continent and the world at large, he added.

Morocco on Wednesday secured the Presidency of the UNHRC for 2024 in a vote held in Geneva, receiving support from 30 out of the 47 Council members.
