The US United States Central Command (CENTCOM) announced on Sunday that a prominent SIS leader was killed in a drone strike in eastern Syria.

The strike was carried out by the MQ-9 Reaper drones last Friday and killed the ISIS leader Usama Al Muhajir, according to a press release issued by CENTCOM.

CENTCOM said no civilians were killed in the strike, but it is assessing reports of civilian injury.

“We have made it clear that we remain committed to the defeat of ISIS throughout the region” said Gen. Michael “Erik” Kurilla, commander of CENTCOM.

“ISIS remains a threat, not only to the region but well beyond.” he added.
