Washington: The US Army announced that it had destroyed an anti-ship ballistic missile (ASBM) and two unmanned aerial systems (UAS) launched by the Houthis from Yemen towards the Red Sea.

US Central Command (CENTCOM) added that there were no injuries or damage reported.

Additionally, the US Army said in a statement that “CENTCOM forces destroyed a mobile surface-to-air missile system in Houthi controlled territory,” according to the US Al Hurra TV channel.

Earlier, the US Special Envoy for Yemen Tim Lenderking urged the Houthis to stop their attacks on ships in the Red Sea, considering that they were undermining the peace process in the war-torn country.

He said in a digital press briefing, “the Houthis must immediately halt their attacks in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden because they are undermining progress on the Yemen peace process and complicating the delivery of humanitarian assistance to Yemenis and others in need, including the Palestinian people.” The Houthis, who control a large part of Yemen’s co
ast overlooking the Red Sea, have been launching dozens of attacks with missiles against commercial ships for more than four months in solidarity with the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.

Western countries, led by the US and UK, deployed battleships in the Red Sea, and Washington formed an international maritime coalition to protect navigation in the strategic region through which 12% of global trade passes.
