4.5-Magnitude Earthquake Hits Solomon Islands

An earthquake measuring 4.5 magnitude on the Richter scale hit the Solomon Islands in the Pacific Ocean on Sunday.

The epicenter of the quake was 99 km west of Kirakira, at a depth of 83.4 km, the US Geological Survey reported.

So far, there have been no reports of casualties or material damage as a result of the tremor.

The Solomon Islands lie in one of the world’s most active seismic areas.
