Through the Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Program (GGP), Japan supported Al Nadwah Social and Cultural Club’s medical dispensary in Aley by providing advanced medical equipment. This assistance will enable yearly more than 2,000 vulnerable people in the region to have an access to comprehensive, high-quality health services at affordable costs. On July 18 2023, Ambassador MAGOSHI Masayuki attended the project’s hand-over ceremony at the Al Nadwah Social and Cultural Club Auditorium, in the presence of Dr. Naji Amro, Minister of Public Health Representative, Mr. Nadim Hamadeh, Mayor of Qmatiye, Mr. Adham Shouman, Head of Administrative Committee of the Al Nadwah Social and Cultural Club, and Mr Hussein Jaafar, Director of the Al Nadwah dispensary. The ceremony opened with the national anthems of Japan and Lebanon, followed by congratulatory remarks from Ambassador MAGOSHI, Mr. Shouman, Mr. Jaafar, Mr. Hamadeh and Dr. Amro, and a tour in the dispensary. In his speech, Ambassador MAGOSHI said Japan has always attached great importance to the recovery of the health sector in Lebanon and highlighted the importance of this initiative in providing the necessary health infrastructure for the dispensary to meet the growing primary healthcare needs in the region. Mr. Shouman introduced the Al Nadwah’s continuous contribution to Qmatiye, and Mr. Jaafar thanked Japan for its generous support especially amid the compounding crisis. As for Mr. Hamadeh, he highlighted the importance of this project in supporting the most vulnerable people in Qmatiye, while highlighting the pivotal role the Al Nadwah has played in the region. Finally, Dr. Amro expressed his sincere gratitude to Japan’s continuous support towards the health sector during the critical times.
