The Minister of Economy and Finance, Nadia Fettah, held talks in Marrakech on Saturday with the Minister of Economic Cooperation and Development of the Federal Republic of Germany, Svenja Schulze, on ways to strengthen bilateral relations.

Held on the sidelines of the 2023 Annual Meetings of the World Bank Group and the International Monetary Fund, the meeting provided an opportunity to underscore the excellence of bilateral relations in terms of cooperation and economic development between the two countries.

On this occasion, the German Minister praised the Kingdom’s reform efforts, both economic and social.

She also commended the importance of the project to generalize social protection, based on a precise agenda, rigorous financing and coordination mechanisms, and an effective targeting system.

Referring to the Kingdom’s resilience in the aftermath of the Al Haouz earthquake, Schulze said she had learned of the reconstruction efforts carried out under the leadership of HM King Mohammed VI, and praised Morocco’s responsiveness and the mobilization of all its components around a vast multidimensional reconstruction and development program.

The two ministers also emphasized the importance of improved coordination on a large number of subjects of common interest, in which the Kingdom’s experience is recognized and should be capitalized upon.

They also discussed new prospects for economic cooperation, particularly in the fields of combating climate change, decarbonization, and sustainable economic development.

The meeting was attended by Robert Dölger, Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Morocco, and several senior officials from both parties.
